Pre-eclampsia

Preeclampsia is often accompanied by swelling. The cause of preeclampsia is unknown, but suggest that it is a consequence of a breach of the kidneys. Although preeclampsia is starting to develop at the beginning of pregnancy, it is usually not diagnosed before seven months. For pre-eclampsia there is no treatment. However, women with this diagnosis may need to comply with bed rest or take medication for high blood pressure. Although it is officially not recommended, some doctors prescribe it for patients receiving calcium to 1,5-2,0 g per day. Calcium supplements are often effectively act on the blood pressure without side effects. Pre-eclampsia should not be treated the restriction of weight gain, caloric intake, fluid and salt (sodium). These measures not only will not take action, but also inflict harm both mother and child. Studies have shown that to reduce the possibility of pre-eclampsia can be a diet containing large amounts of fish, fish oil and vegetable oils. But these results are not yet final, and the safety of this method is being tested. Although it has been proposed several methods of alternative medicine (herbs, chiropractic), but their safety and efficacy are not scientifically proven.
