Subtropical forests and shrubs

On the western edge of the continents are subtropics, often called the Mediterranean. After all, they repeat those natural features which are most pronounced on the Mediterranean coast. Summer in these places are hot and dry. Rains fall mostly in winter, during which even weak frosts are rare. In the subtropical vegetation predominate, whether overgrown evergreen shrubs and small trees. Here there are noble laurel, arbutus, annually exfoliate, gentle myrtle, wild olive trees, roses and junipers. Many trees for thousands of years has adapted to dry summers, and their leaves turned into thorns. When it comes time to flowering, maquis (scrub) are transformed into sea of ??gorgeous flowers - yellow, white, blue and red. In the air at such a time dominated by a strong flavor. One of the most beautiful Mediterranean subtropical plants - stone-pine (Italian pine). Wide, spreading crown pines seem particularly great in the vicinity of the spindle-shaped dense canopy of cypress trees. Grow these beautiful trees, most often alone. Groves of pines remained very few. Small woods, which can still be found in the Mediterranean subtropical regions, composed of evergreen oaks. There are two varieties. One is called the cork oak, and another - a stone. Trees are rare, and in between lush grass and shrubs develop. Different picture represent the subtropics in the eastern continental margin. In south-eastern China and southern Japan atmospheric precipitation is also uneven. But unlike the Mediterranean subtropical rain here is more in the summer rather than winter. The rains here are when the vegetation is most in need of moisture. So there grow lush moist forests of evergreen oaks, camphor laurel and magnolia. Thickets of high bamboos, many climbers, beset the trees and various shrubs enhance the originality of the subtropical forest. In south-eastern part of the U.S. dominated wetlands subtropical forests. They consist of an American species of pine, ash, poplar and maple. Widely distributed swamp cypress. This huge tree reaches 45 meters in height and 2 meters in diameter. Well, in addition, one should not forget that eternal summer subtropics is the birthplace of oranges, mandarins, lemons, persimmons, grapefruits. In addition to citrus fruits grow here olive, laurel, fig, almond, date palm and many other fruit trees and shrubs.
