The speed of meteorites

The huge rate of meteorites, and it is proportional to the air resistance are the key to understanding many phenomena. Due to atmospheric drag gradually destroyed escape velocity, and a huge amount of manpower is converted into heat, which heats the meteor and the air located in front of him. Heated air rushing into the empty space behind the stone, surrounded by the last red-hot atmosphere: the meteorite begins to melt and glow. Before the fall is heard a strong sound, it is usually attributed to the movement of air, which instantly rushes into the empty space behind the meteorite, as only the latter would lose its space velocity, and would simply fall. But as in the last part of the way the rate decreases gradually and at the time of its complete destruction of the meteorite continued to move, the instantaneous movement of air into the empty space and the formation of strong sound waves are not possible. Based on research Mach Doss gave a more satisfactory explanation of the sound effects accompanying the meteorite. Flying the kernel, according to Mach, promotes the formation of the so-called progressive wave, which moves in front of the nucleus, but when its performance falls below the ordinary speed of sound, wave zabezhit forward, reaches down to us and we'll hear a shot. Such an advanced wave Doss and explains the strong sound of falling meteorite. Hiss, hiss and rumble of following this sound, partly because of the decline taking place, partly due to the known fluctuations caused by the bodies that the center of gravity of the meteorite, while driving in a forward direction, is not the same as that of the boom with the geometric center.
