Folded mountains and mountains massivnyt

The first of these types, which include, for example, the Alps, Carpathians, Apennines, Pyrenees, Caucasus, the Himalayas, the Andes, is characterized by clearly pronounced linear arrangement of: stretching the length predominates over the development in width, in some cases the tops are long chain, and always form a sharply protruding ridges. All typical representatives of this group formed, apparently, recently, that is movement, carried out the folds, occurred in a relatively late period of life of the earth. Therein lies the reason for a pronounced development of vertices: the destructive forces did not manage to smooth them out. On the contrary, massive mountains, which include the Bohemian Forest, Black Forest, the Vosges and the others do not exhibit explicit linear arrangement: they do not seen any overwhelming development in length, no sharp protruding chains, although the grouping of rock strata and the linear arrangement can be expressed. These mountains are characterized by low-tops with rounded sloping forms. Geological age of their great: a lot of time has elapsed from the moment they occur: before us only the remains, only the ruins of the old majestic mountains. Another manifestation of the forces that gives rise to the mountains, is the formation of deep cracks, or so-called dumping and shifts;
