In the Auvergne is an ancient crater Pi Shopin, surrounded by a semicircular rampart Puy de la Gutt as Vesuvius, surrounded by the Somme. Puy Shopin has a remarkable feature: its structure involves not only the latest eruption of rocks, what are trachytes and basalts, but also the ancient granites. On one side of the mountain is only visible to trachyte, in others the slopes facing south, southeast and southwest, the structure of the volcano to be complex: on the ground, consisting of basalts and basaltic slags, rests a thick layer of granite, covered from top to trachytes; on Puletu Scrope granite situated between basalts and trachytes, as "filling in the pie." In some places, trachyte and lies under the granite. It is still not done a satisfactory explanation of all the features of this rare phenomenon, but most likely it is that kind of arrangement of granite indicates local uplift great thickness of older rocks, which occurred during the eruption of the Puy Shopin.
